Up high in the air, a tiny nut dangled from a tree. A slight rattling noise within.
The wind blew outside the little nut, unknown to whatever resided in it. But not unknown to the tree from which it hanged.
A faint snapping sound rang through the air.
Gravity acted heartlessly upon the little nut, its insides in disarray. All was chaos inside the once serene little chamber, then suddenly, all was peace once more.
A warmth, a blinding beam stabbed into the shell of the nut like a sword. The dark peaceful interior now violated for the first time.
She had never seen such brightness, such intrusion in her earth colored chamber. Rudely awakened from her dreaming slumber by this whole event, presented now with a passage to an unknown world.
Emerging from her shell, the little girl, as if a sapling, stretched towards the scrutinous sun. All around her, a place she remembers from many a dream, but now so vivid, colors she had never imagined before, an ocean of noise coming from every direction.
The little one sunk back into her shell, this was too overwhelming, but in remembering her dreams, she couldn’t help but wonder what this place meant.
Rising out of the broken nut, she stepped out into the warm grass, the moisture underfoot so unknown to her old home, yet so refreshing. Looking up, the girl saw the tree where she dropped from towering above her, so far out of reach, but calling out to her.
What was she anyway? The little creature wondered, what if by going back to that tree, she might find more like her and maybe understand what her dreams meant.
Dangling from the broken shell was a piece of branch, from when the nut was still connected to the tree. At the point where the branch broke there was a green tendril, so bright and alive. The girl took the branch, a little taller than herself, as a reminder of where she needed to go.
With a deep breath, inhaling all those strange new smells.
She stepped forth into the garden
